South Simcoe Music Theater Opportunity

If you are interested in the technical and set design aspect of theater check out the information for an opportunity to get some hours.

SOUTH SIMCOE THEATER OPPORTUNITY

This letter is to inform you about exciting opportunities for your students at the South Simcoe Theatre, not only to collect their community service hours they need to graduate, but to also give them great experiences in activities that have uses far outside of theatre.

Each Saturday, our set construction team brings our show’s scenery and properties to life, using all kinds of different artistic tools and techniques.

For students who have been interested in the technical side of theatre, our technical team sets up and operates both the lighting and sound boards with the shows during the season.

Just because we are a theatre, it does not mean that these opportunities are limited to arts students. For each of our shows, box office and front of house staff are needed to sell tickets, collect ticket stubs as patrons enter the theatre, seating patrons, assisting with elderly or disabled patrons, and setting up refreshments for intermission.

The South Simcoe Theatre has been a part of the local cultural stage for over forty years and for all of those years, volunteers have been the vital pieces to the all of the successes the theatre has enjoyed. We look forward to helping students to not only reach their community service hours requirements, but to instill them with a sense of community and teamwork.

If you have any questions, please contact myself at 705-331-9965 or danielgalea99@hotmail.com or season producer Kathy Simpson at 705-456-2963. We look forward to seeing you soon at the South Simcoe Theatre, home of “Great Community Theatre.”

Elmvale Water Festival

Celebrate Water

The Elmvale Water Festival 2011

Announcing the fifth annual Elmvale Water Festival, Friday and Saturday, October 7th & 8th, 2011

This year, the Elmvale Water Festival is proud to be teaming up with the Elmvale Fall Fair and will focus on water education by providing hands-on activities for children of all ages!!! From aquifers to wetlands, kids will learn about aspects of the water cycle, including human impacts and how to minimize them.

As always, we will have pure spring water on hand, free for all in attendance. Our special reusable/non-toxic Elmvale Water Festival, Enviroclear bottles (provided by Container Corporation, Toronto) will be available for refilling so that everyone can enjoy fresh spring water all day, and take some home. In addition, SIGG (Switzerland) reusable aluminum bottles will also be available.

The Elmvale Fall Fair has been an annual event for more than 150 years and draws thousands of visitors to this tiny hamlet every autumn. http://www.elmvalefallfair.com The Elmvale Fall Fair has many livestock shows, including Heavy Horses, and of course a tractor pull. There will be award winning baked goods, crafts, needlework, school displays, preserves, field crops, photography and floral exhibits.

To volunteer for the 2011 Elmvale Water Festival, please contact Michael Powell mike@elmvale.org
